It is thought that the worship of Horus was brought into Egypt during the \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientegyptonline.co.uk\/predynlist.html\"\u003epredynastic\u003c\/a\u003e period.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHe seems to have begun as a god of war and a sky god who was married to \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientegyptonline.co.uk\/hathor.html\"\u003eHathor\u003c\/a\u003e, but soon became considered as the opponent of\u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientegyptonline.co.uk\/set.html\"\u003eSet\u003c\/a\u003e, the son of \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientegyptonline.co.uk\/ra.html\"\u003eRa\u003c\/a\u003e, and later the son of \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientegyptonline.co.uk\/osiris.html\"\u003eOsiris\u003c\/a\u003e. However, the situation is confused by the fact that there were many Hawk gods in ancient Egypt and a number of them shared the name Horus (or more specifically Har, Heru or Hor). Furthermore, the gods \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientegyptonline.co.uk\/ra.html\"\u003eRa\u003c\/a\u003e,\u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientegyptonline.co.uk\/montu.html\"\u003eMontu\u003c\/a\u003e and \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientegyptonline.co.uk\/sokar.html\"\u003eSokar\u003c\/a\u003e could all take the form of a falcon.
